TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with staff, management, and the general public. Must be able to operate basic office equipment and personal computer.  Must be capable of obtaining ARC Water Safety Instruction Certification and Aquatic facility operator or Certified pool operator certification. Must be able to travel throughout the City for various on-site visits. Must be able to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds, which may include drums of water purification products, and various aquatic/pool equipment. 
                                                                               
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:  Work is performed in an aquatic environment with exposure to chlorine and other chemicals normally associated with such facilities.  May be exposed to heat, humidity, and cold weather conditions when making physical inspections of facilities.  Work schedule may include weekend and evening hours.
 

Associate's Degree or two (2) years of college course work in Recreation, Sports Management, or a related field and four (4) years of related experience in administrative support of aquatics services and programs or other recreation fields, with two (2) of the four (4) years in supervising aquatics services and programs, or other recreation fields; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Must be licensed as a Certified Lifeguard. Must possess a valid Tennessee Driver's License.


The City Charter requires that City Employees must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from date of Employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire.
