Day Camp Aide (Part-time)
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Must be able to communicate effectively with children, staff, and the general public. Must be able to lift and carry sports and other related equipment weighing up to 20 lbs. Requires the ability to teach and actively participate in athletic activities including games, sports, and other leisure activities.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:Work is performed in the community center environment and outdoors, including exposure to changing weather conditions including high temperatures, when monitoring children and participating in outdoor activities.
Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. Must enjoy working with children and demonstrate enthusiasm, patience and the ability to interact in a positive manner with campers, parents, staff and community partners. Experience monitoring/ teaching young children is strongly preferred. Experience in an educational profession or college coursework in recreational services, sports science, or early childhood education are preferred.
The City Charter requires that City Employees, with the exception of "first responders", must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from their date of employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire. As defined by Tennessee Senate Bill No. 29, "first responder" means paid, full-time law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel.
