GIS Technical Fire Coordinator
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed primarily in an office environment, except during emergency situations. May be required to work offsite during emergency fire and EMS disasters, multiple fire alarm fires, airport emergencies, and other fire or City of Memphis emergency situations. May experience exposure to smoke, dust, fumes, and various types of weather conditions. Requires being on-call twenty-four (24) hours a day for long periods of time as needed. Some occasional travel to meetings, fire stations, and other work sites/offices across the City may be required.
Bachelor's degree in Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, Geography, or a related field and five (5) years professional experience utilizing GIS techniques and processes including specific experience utilizing ESRI software (ArcGIS/ArcInfo, Spatial Analyst, Network Analyst, and 3D Analyst) and Windows operating system with three (3) of the five (5) years in a supervisory/lead capacity; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Specific experience supporting the mapping needs of the fire department and knowledge of related data strongly preferred. Related Master's degree preferred. Working experience encompassing the use of multiple programming languages strongly preferred.
The City Charter requires that City Employees, with the exception of "first responders", must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from their date of employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire. As defined by Tennessee Senate Bill No. 29, "first responder" means paid, full-time law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel.
