TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Requires the ability to participate in golf activities and provide instructions, etc.  Requires the ability to inspect the golf course and to operate golf cart.  Requires the use of general office equipment such as computers and telephones.  Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with staff, public, and various organization representatives.  Requires the ability to operate an automobile to travel throughout the golf facility and to various City/vendor offices. Requires stooping, bending, reaching, standing, pulling, climbing, and traversing uneven grounds. Requires lifting golf equipment ranging in weight of 25 – 50 lbs.  
 
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:  Work is performed both indoors in a golf shop environment and outdoors on a golf course and includes driving throughout the golf facility and to various offices throughout the City. Exposure to dust, debris and all types of weather conditions. Must be available to work some nights, weekends, and holidays.  
 
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Agronomy, Recreation or related field and five (5) years experience in golf operations, golf instruction, or customer services, inventory control and procurement in the restaurant and hotel industries or other customer industry locations, with  three (3) of the five (5) years in a managerial/supervisory capacity; or any combination of experience or training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license as a condition of continued employment.  Knowledge of the game of golf, including rules of the game and use of golf equipment, etc., is preferred.   Experience in golf course operations, as well as PGA membership preferred.

The City Charter requires that City Employees must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from date of Employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire.
