Public Service Specialist (Part-Time)
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing. Must be able to operate personal computer and all basic office equipment. Requires stooping, bending, stretching, pushing cartloads of books, supplies, etc. up to 40 lbs and lifting up to 25 lbs of books.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Works primarily in a public library environment. May require some travel within Shelby County to various meetings and work areas (library branches). Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which includes nights and weekends.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four (4) year college/university in Education or any field of study that is related to the Library's service priorities in areas such as STEAM development, job and career development, cultural enrichment, life-long learning, and literacy development. One (1) year of related professional experience; or any combination of experience or training which enables one to perform the essential job functions.
The City Charter requires that City Employees, with the exception of "first responders", must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from their date of employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire. As defined by Tennessee Senate Bill No. 29, "first responder" means paid, full-time law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel.
