OTHER FUNCTIONS:

1. Assists in monitoring and training staff regarding sorting and distribution functions as needed.

2. Performs additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned.

 

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Requires the ability to operate general office equipment such as a computer and telephone. Requires repetitive stooping, bending, stretching, lifting and carrying books and other objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Must be able to traverse throughout the building by pushing book trucks to deliver materials.

 

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a library environment. May be assigned to varying library agency locations around the City. May work, for short periods, outside emptying book drops. Some evening, weekend, or holiday work may be required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School graduate or equivalent and one (1) year clerical experience to include operating a computer terminal; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Experience working in a public library preferred.


The City Charter requires that City Employees, with the exception of "first responders", must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from their date of employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire. As defined by Tennessee Senate Bill No. 29, "first responder" means paid, full-time law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel.
