TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to read meters and gages. Must make visual inspections of process and detect any unusual characteristics. Requires traversing on uneven ground and the ability to climb ladders and stairs. Requires lifting (approx. 50 lbs.), pulling, reaching, stooping, stretching, balancing and crouching. Requires the ability to operate an automobile and various general office equipment such as computer, copier, and telephone.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Twenty-four hour, seven-day-week operation, involves shift work assignments. Majority of work is performed in a control room environment and outside of the facilities. Makes routine inspections of facility, collects samples and performs field test. May be exposed to dust, fumes, odors, noise, heat and all types of extreme weather conditions. Requires the ability to work any assigned shift.

: High school diploma or equivalent certification or training in wastewater operation; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry or related field preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid driver license as a condition of continued employment. Must successfully complete job related skills testing as designated by Human Resources such as problem solving skills, mathematics/computation ability and knowledge of chemistry, bacteriology and wastewater treatment.

The City Charter requires that City Employees must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from date of Employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire.
