TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with staff, management, and the general public.  Must be able to operate general office equipment such as a personal computer.  Must be able to lift and carry pool supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.                                                                              
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:  Work is performed in an aquatic environment with exposure to chlorine and other chemicals normally associated with such facilities.  Requires exposure to all types of weather conditions including heat and humidity when making physical inspections of facilities.  Requires frequent independent travel to inspect facilities throughout the City.  Work schedule may include weekend and evening hours.
 
Bachelor's Degree in Sport and Leisure Studies or any partially related field and six (6) years experience in management of recreation programs to include specific experience developing and implementing aquatic programs with four (4) of the six (6) years in a supervisory/lead capacity; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Must possess a valid Tennessee Driver's License. 

The City Charter requires that City Employees must establish residence within Shelby County withing six (6) months from the date of employment.  Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire.
