ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works under the direction of the Report Center Coordinator to supervise the activities of clerical personnel on their respective shifts in conducting the daily operations of the Police CompStat Report Center: prepares work schedules; assigns duties; monitors and evaluates work performance in accordance with departmental rules and regulations; and recommends developmental or disciplinary action in accordance with applicable Memorandum of Understanding and City Personnel Policies.  Supervises operations to ensure that departmental and Tennessee Incident Based Reporting System data entry standards are met, that reports are assigned to the proper Bureaus or Units and entered into the system by established priorities.  Monitors, documents, and provides feedback to the various units within the Department regarding deficiencies and errors in crime incident reports.  Coordinates, trains, and assists subordinate employees in effective performance of duties such as entering, validating, and conducting computer searches for reported crimes and receiving and maintaining files of various handwritten copies of reports, memorandums, supplements and arrest forms.  Reviews and recommends work procedures to improve operating efficiency.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Must be able to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.  Requires the ability to operate general office equipment such as a personal computer and telephone.  Requires some lifting and carrying objects such as office supplies weighing up to 15 lbs.


TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:  Work is performed in an office environment.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSHigh School graduate and five (5) years of advanced clerical experience with one (1) of those years in a lead/supervisory capacity; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions.  Must be certified in Tennessee Information Enforcement System (TIES) and have prior experience with the Tennessee Incident Based Reporting System (TIBRS).

The City Charter requires that City Employees must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from date of Employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire.
