TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires ability to operate various types of equipment, vehicles, and tools such as hand tools, power tools, pneumatic and hydraulic tools, etc. Must be able to enter confined spaces such as manholes, catch basins, culverts, and other drainage related structures. Requires the ability to lift with assistance, manhole covers, inlet grates, rims, tools, and materials which can weigh up to 150 lbs. Must be able to communicate on mobile radio and to provide detailed description or work performed.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Majority of work is performed in an outdoor environment. May be exposed to insects, weeds, poisonous plants, bacteria, insecticides, pesticides, flooded areas, traffic, noise, heat and all types of weather conditions. May require some contact with the general
High school graduate or equivalent and a minimum of three (3) years experience in concrete infrastructure construction, inspection, rehabilitation, and maintenance; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform job functions. Must possess a valid Class "B" Tennessee (or equivalent out-of state) Commercial Driver's License. Must comply with the Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) Alcohol and Drug testing rules.
The City Charter requires that City Employees must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from date of Employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire.
