Concrete Worker
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions. Requires traversing uneven land on foot, sometimes across or through ditches. Requires the ability to perform heavy manual work which will involve lifting rims, tools, and materials, which can weigh up to 50 lbs. as well as handling of manhole covers and inlet grates (approximately 150 lbs) with assistance. Requires ability to operate hand tools and a portable concrete mixer.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Majority of work is performed in an outdoors environment. May be exposed to insects, weeds, poisonous plants, bacteria, insecticides, pesticides, flooded areas, traffic, noise, and all types of weather conditions. May require some contact with the general public. Work will involve working inside underground pipes and culverts. Work may also be performed in traffic areas.
High School graduate or equivalent. Six (6) months experience in construction and maintenance or related area preferred.
The City Charter requires that City Employees must establish residence within Shelby County withing six (6) months from the date of employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire.
