Condemnation Supervisor
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed both inside the office and throughout the City in assigned geographical area. Work involves contact with the public at times under stressful conditions. May be required to work in extreme temperatures. Will travel frequently to meetings or sites across the City for visual inspections of properties. May be exposed to various weather conditions, fumes, odors, dust, and noise.
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or related field and four (4) years' experience in code enforcement; or High school graduate and eight (8) years' experience in code enforcement; or any combination of experience or training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Must possess and maintain have a valid driver's license as a condition of continued employment. Two (2) of the four (4) years' experience in a supervisory or lead/senior positon preferred. Certification by the International Association of Electrical Inspectors and Southern Building Code Congress International preferred.
The City Charter requires that City Employees, with the exception of "first responders", must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from their date of employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire. As defined by Tennessee Senate Bill No. 29, "first responder" means paid, full-time law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel.
