Environmental Technical Manager
• If assigned to Storm Water, the ETM must possess and maintain a Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) Level I Fundamentals of Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control (TNEPSC) for Construction Sites and TDEC Level II Design Principles for Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control certification or possess and maintain an EnviroCert International, Inc. Certified Professional in Erosion & Sediment Control (CPESC) certification or possess and maintain a Professional Engineering (P.E.) license or Professional Geologist (P.G.) license or a Landscape Architect (P.L.A.) license. American Public Works Association (APWA) Stormwater Manager or EnviroCert International, Inc. Certified Professional in Municipal Stormwater Management certification preferred. Must obtain Tennessee Qualified Hydrologic Professional (TN-QHP) certification or TN-QHP in training certification within 12 months of hire. Professional Engineer license or Professional Geologist license preferred.
• If assigned to Industrial Monitoring, the ETM must obtain a KY-TN Water Environment Association Level I Pretreatment Certification (or equivalent) within 12 months of hire and obtain a KY-TN Water Environment Association Level II Pretreatment Certification (or equivalent) within 24 months of hire as a condition of continued employment. Professional Engineer license preferred.

The City Charter requires that City Employees, with the exception of "first responders", must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from their date of employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire. As defined by Tennessee Senate Bill No. 29, "first responder" means paid, full-time law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel.
