Geographic Information System Technical Analyst
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Requires the ability to operate specialized technical and general office equipment such as a computer, copier, telephone, software and systems databases to include CAD and GIS. Requires the ability to lift and carry materials (approx. 30 lbs.) such as video equipment and cameras. Requires the ability to read GIS related maps and drawings. Requires traversing uneven land when conducting on-site visits throughout the City.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in an office environment. Travels occasionally to other site locations throughout the City for mapping inspections and property activities. May be exposed to changing weather conditions, traffic, noises, fumes, weeds, and insects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Geography, Computer Science or related field and four (4) years' professional experience in utilizing GIS and/or CAD software and related mapping techniques; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Working experience using Environmental Systems Research Institute (ERSI) software preferred. GIS or CAD Professional Certification preferred.
The City Charter requires that City Employees must establish residence within Shelby County withing six (6) months from the date of employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire.
