Greaser
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Works under the supervision of an assigned supervisor to oil and grease moving parts of friction surfaces of heavy equipment such as shaft and motor bearings, gears, and pulleys according to specified procedures and oral instructions. Drives a grease and fuel truck to different work sites to lubricate and fuel equipment at the work site. Uses pressurized lubrication equipment to force grease into bearings or onto friction surface. Fills tanks of trucks with specified lubricants. Performs routine preventative maintenance such as checking and adding water to batteries and radiators and checking and changing filters as needed. Takes oil samples from heavy equipment to be sent out and analyzed. Keeps daily records of equipment serviced and supplies used. Reports equipment defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Drives heavy equipment machinery to service area.
- Reviews oil analysis reports to note if certain repairs need to be made.
- Performs additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires the ability to perform heavy manual work which will involve bending, kneeling, reaching, standing for extended periods of time. Requires traversing on uneven ground lifting, pulling and pushing equipment and maintenance supplies up to 50 lbs. unassisted. Requires ability to operate assigned equipment.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Majority of the work is performed outdoors in sometimes adverse weather conditions. May be exposed to fumes, dust, noise and hot and cold temperatures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to read, write, and understand verbal instructions. Experience in preventive maintenance and operation of heavy equipment or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Must possess and maintain a valid Class "A" Tennessee (or equivalent out-of-state) Commercial Driver's License with an "X" (Tanks and Hazard Materials) endorsement or obtain within six (6) months of employment as a condition of continued employment. Must comply with Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) Alcohol and Drug testing rules. Must successfully complete job related skills testing as designated by Human Resources. Knowledge of government regulations regarding oil recovery or reclaiming of fluids preferred.
