ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works under the direction of the assigned Youth Services Director and Senior Program Manager. Supports youth services initiatives in partnership with Memphis schools, assisting with youth programming, outreach, and coordination for middle school students. Coordinates tutoring, mentoring, and leadership development sessions and efforts. Coordinates programs during the school year and summer academies to ensure effective partnerships with schools. Oversees the I AM Included (IAI) and 8th Grade Program, designed to empower youth with disabilities and prepare students for high school through inclusive programming, academic support, and social-emotional learning. Coordinates relevant curricula, organizes field trips, and tracks participant data. Supports recruitment, prepares reports for stakeholders, and works with the finance team to manage stipend processing. Contributes to program improvement and provides feedback on program effectiveness. Attends various meetings and conferences by driving throughout the city.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:
1. Performs additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned.


TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires the ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Requires the ability to operate general office equipment such as a computer, telephone, and fax machine. Requires the ability to operate an automobile.


TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in an office environment Requires some travel to various sites throughout the city. May be required to work evenings and weekends to attend conferences, youth forums, school events, and trainings. Requires travel to various locations and events across the city.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education, Public Administration or Youth Development, or a related field and four (4) years of professional experience in youth services or program coordination; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Working experience with youth development and job training required. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license as a condition of continued employment. Working experience in a youth-related environment preferred.

The City Charter requires that City Employees must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from date of Employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire. The City Charter requires that City Employees, with the EXECEPTION of “first responders”, must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from their date of Employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire. As defined by Tennessee House Bill 105, "first responder means paid, full-time law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel and dispatchers of law enforcement, fire and emergency medical service departments."
