JobLINC Specialist (Appointed)
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Must be able to operate personal computer and all basic office equipment. Requires stooping, bending, stretching, pushing cartloads of books, equipment, supplies, etc. up to 40lbs and lifting up to 25 lbs. of books. Requires the ability to operate motor vehicles safely and according to current traffic laws.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Works primarily in a public library environment including the JobLINC vehicle. Regularly travels within Shelby County to sites, work areas and various meetings. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which includes nights and weekends. Regularly drives JobLINC Vehicle and/or other Library vehicles to worksites throughout the City and surrounding areas. Out of town travel may be required. Work involves contact with the public.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts, Business, Adult/Youth Education, Social Service, Public Administration, Human Resources or related field of study and one (1) year of experience in customer service related work preferred; or any combination of experience or training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is required. Experience in career counseling is preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license as a condition of continued employment.
The City Charter requires that City Employees, with the exception of "first responders", must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from their date of employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire. As defined by Tennessee Senate Bill No. 29, "first responder" means paid, full-time law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel.
