Landscape Architect
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires the use of office equipment, including, computers, telephones, survey equipment and calculators. Requires manual dexterity to handle and use hand and computerized drafting tools. Requires the ability to communicate effectively with staff and consultants verbally and in written documentation. Requires the ability to operate an automobile to visit inspection sites and attend meetings.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Majority of work is performed in an office environment, except during park and construction site inspections which requires being outdoors. May be exposed to various weather conditions, dust, and noise.
Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture with five (5) years of experience in park design and landscape architecture, or any combination of education and experience necessary to perform the essential job functions. Must maintain and possess a license to practice Landscape Architecture in the State of Tennessee as a condition of continued employment. Must maintain and possess a valid driver's license as a condition of continued employment. Knowledge of graphic/drafting software including AutoCAD, GIS ArcView, Adobe Illustrator, Sketch-up and Microsoft Office preferred.
The City Charter requires that City Employees, with the exception of "first responders", must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from their date of employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire. As defined by Tennessee Senate Bill No. 29, "first responder" means paid, full-time law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel.
