TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires manual dexterity to use paint brushes and equipment. Requires the ability to identify colors. Must be able to traverse on various surfaces when painting various equipment and facilities. Requires the ability to climb ladders, stairs and work from a scaffold. Requires the ability to perform manual work which will involve reaching, handling, crouching, balancing, and lifting equipment, materials, parts, or supplies, which can weigh up to 50 lbs. and 100 lbs. with assistance. May require the ability to use a bucket truck and various lifting equipment if assigned to Property Maintenance. May require the ability to operate automobile to drive to various worksite if assigned to Property Maintenance and Lift Stations.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Some outdoor work is required in painting exterior of buildings, outdoor equipment, parking lots, playing fields, etc. Will be exposed to various weather conditions, confined spaces, toxic fumes, odors, and noise. Requires the use and wear of protective gear when necessary. May require to ability to travel throughout the City of Memphis to various work sites. May require to ability to perform work in wash down, flooding or abrasion work sites, and interior of manholes and vaults.

Journeyman Painter and three (3) years experience in all phases of painting. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license as a condition of continued employment if assigned to Property Maintenance and Lift Stations. Must obtain within six (6) months of employment and maintain a medical certification to wear sealed air purifying respirator and supplied air hood as a condition of continued employment if assigned to Treatment Plants. Commercial and industrial painting preferred. May be required to pass a battery of skills tests as deemed necessary by Human Resources.

The City Charter requires that City Employees must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from date of Employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire.

Compensation

Minimum Salary: US Dollar (USD) 67,828.54
Pay Basis: Hourly
