TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:   Requires the ability to operate a computer. Requires the ability to operate silk screening and baking machines, paint striping truck, and post driver.  Requires the ability to communicate verbally with co-workers and supervisor. Requires the ability to operate a company vehicle to visit offsite work locations. Must be able to lift and carry approximately 70 lbs.  Must assist in lifting 100 lbs. sack of materials and place them on the equipment. 
 
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:  Majority of work is performed outdoors with some work being performed in a shop-like environment. May be exposed to paint fumes, dust, chemicals, traffic and hot and cold temperatures. Requires frequent travel to offsite work locations.
 
High School graduate or equivalent; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions.  Must possess and maintain valid Class "B" Tennessee (or equivalent out-of-state) Commercial Driver's license and must comply with Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) Alcohol and Drug testing rules as a condition of continued employment. Participation in an apprenticeship training program required. Basic computer skills preferred.
 


The City Charter requires that City Employees, with the exception of "first responders", must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from their date of employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire. As defined by Tennessee Senate Bill No. 29, "first responder" means paid, full-time law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel.
