Parks Security Coordinator
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Works under the direction of an assigned manager to coordinate and ensure the safety, security, loss prevention, and emergency operations for all Memphis Parks locations. Develops, evaluates, and implements the security operations and procedures system-wide and within individual agencies. Manages a security contract relevant to guard patrol at various park locations. Serves as the primary investigator for accidents and incidents involving Memphis Parks buildings, materials, personnel, or property. Serves as the liaison to law enforcement/emergency operation agencies. Coordinates installation and ongoing monitoring of the system-wide security camera system. Develops and coordinates the disaster plan and emergency operations/first-aid training. Provides support, leadership, and development to members of the contracted guard service. Evaluates security/emergency equipment and supplies and makes recommendations for purchase. Serves in an “on-call” capacity to respond to emergency situations seven (7) days a week/twenty-four (24) hours a day for all locations. Manages and responds to security alarm monitoring systems at all locations. Serves as the division’s secondary contact with the Emergency Management Agency (EMA) for the City-wide disaster plan. Conducts preventative security and safety awareness training staff located at all locations. Participates in administrative tours of all Memphis Parks locations. Performs risk management evaluations routinely. Serves on the management team and participates in management meetings. Travels throughout the city inspecting various Memphis Parks locations Organizes workshops for staff on security and safety.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
Requires the ability to operate an automobile. Must be able to operate a personal computer and all basic office equipment, as well as security camera and alarm monitoring systems. Requires the ability to push, pull, or lift up to 50lbs.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in an office environment. Works in a team environment with staff and volunteers. Work schedule includes being on call seven (7) days a week/twenty four (24) hours a day. Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed. Frequently travels to various work sites throughout the City. May work in the presence of irate customers, and extreme incidents (fire, broken glass, electrical problems, etc).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration, or related discipline and six (6) years of work experience in security, law enforcement: or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license. Coursework in security procedures, law enforcement, dispatching, and/or risk management preferred.
The City Charter requires that City Employees must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from the date of employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire.
