Photo Graphic Arts Supervisor
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works under the general supervision of the Manager of Information Systems. Responsible for the prisoner mugshots for the Shelby County Jail, which includes processing the film, archiving the negatives and printing mugshot requests for the MPD, Sheriff's Office and any law enforcement agency; directs and coordinates employees that are responsible for processing all photographic lab work, drawings of criminal suspects, and scale drawings of crime scenes for the police and sheriff department; allocates and adjusts the volume of workload including, aerials, graduations, retirement ceremonies, crime scene location and on location composites to artist and photographers; oversees production of official MPD photographs and publications; reviews and approves art and copy materials developed by staff and presents final layouts for approval; provides information and assistance to outside law enforcement agencies; evaluates work performance of immediate subordinates; prepares and monitors the budget, confers with vendors to obtain product or service information; and compiles monthly and annual reports as required for supervisor.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:

May perform duties as a Photo Lab Tech or Graphic Artist as needed.

Performs additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned from time to time.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:
Primarily desk work. Requires ability to operate personal computer and lift chemicals, machine parts, and supplies (approx 30 lbs). Requires the ability to communicate with professionals and non-professionals orally and in writing.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in an office environment which involves contact with the staff, management and outside law enforcement agencies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate's Degree in Graphic|Arts and five (5) years of computer graphics experience with one (1) of the five (5) years in a supervisory /lead capacity; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Must have work experience using various computer graphic software programs. All candidates must successfully pass a criminal justice employment background check to work within the Police Services Division.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Will be required to work some evenings and weekends on-call. Must have a valid Tennessee driver's license
