TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Requires the ability to operate general office equipment such as a personal computer and telephone. Requires ability to read blueprints and plan specifications. Requires ability to lift and carry objects such as mechanical tools weighing up to 25 lbs. and maneuver including stooping, bending, reaching above head including traversing uneven ground to make inspections on park grounds, work sites, and surrounding areas. Requires the ability to operate an automobile.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Majority of work is performed in an office environment, but outdoor work is required to inspect work sites. Travels throughout the City to inspect property.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architectural Design, or a related field and ten (10) years of progressively more responsible experience in building construction, repair, and maintenance with at least five (5) of the ten (10) years in a managerial/supervisory capacity over maintenance/construction of diverse facilities; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Must possess and maintain a valid driver license as a condition of continued employment. Bachelor’s degree may be substituted by years of professional experience. Two (2) years of experience may be substituted by a graduate degree. Working experience in applying heating, plumbing, and electrical concepts and principles preferred.

The City Charter requires that City Employees must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from date of Employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire.
