Public Works Shift Supervisor
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Majority of work is performed outdoors to inspect work activities, to evaluate work requirements, and to respond to problem situations. Work may be performed in adverse weather conditions. May be exposed to odors, noise, dust, pollen and fumes. Must be able to be on call twenty four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week for emergency responses. Must work assigned shift.
High school graduate and six (6) years' experience in Public Works maintenance in areas such as sewer line, environmental, street maintenance, drain maintenance, or heavy equipment services with one (1) of the six (6) years in a supervisory/lead capacity; or any combination of training and experience which enables one to perform essential job functions emergencies. Must possess and maintain a valid driver license as a condition of continued employment.
The City Charter requires that City Employees, with the exception of "first responders", must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from their date of employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire. As defined by Tennessee Senate Bill No. 29, "first responder" means paid, full-time law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel.
