Solid Waste Sector Administrator
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Performance of duties is primarily in an office environment; however, travel throughout the sector and city will be necessary. Must be able to interact diplomatically with citizens and businesses regarding solid waste issues and problem resolution.
Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, or an environmental related field and seven (7) years of solid waste management experience with five (5) of the seven (7) years in a managerial capacity or any combination of training and experience which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Knowledge and the ability to communicate personnel policies and labor contract memorandums preferred. Must have a valid driver's license.
The City Charter requires that City Employees, with the exception of "first responders", must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from their date of employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire. As defined by Tennessee Senate Bill No. 29, "first responder" means paid, full-time law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel.
