Traffic Counter
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Requires traversing on uneven ground in collecting field traffic data. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle, radar gun, and counting devices.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed at specified street intersections usually sitting in vehicle for long periods of time. Work is exposed to changing weather conditions, fumes, and odors. May be exposed to noise and traffic.
High school graduate or equivalent experience. Must possess and maintain a valid driver license as a condition of continued employment.
The City Charter requires that City Employees, with the exception of "first responders", must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from their date of employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire. As defined by Tennessee Senate Bill No. 29, "first responder" means paid, full-time law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel.
