ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works under the general administrative direction of the Violent Crime Intervention Fund (VCIF) Director to perform accounting, financial, and budget related reporting. Audits the VCIF grants funds by reviewing financial records and analysis. Creates, reconciles, and reports all VCIF grant activities subject to the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal and State Awards (SEFA). Acts as back- up to the VCIF Director in addressing and planning assignments of grant related activities. Monitors and reviews the grant progress and process workflow. Reconciles the grant module from other funds, users, and entries in the general ledger. Makes recommendations for modifications and necessary updates to procedures. Leads support staff in grant process to ensure policy compliance. Oversees and assists with compiling, analyzing, and preparing VCIF grant financial information. Interprets financial transactions and events for users who must make economic or business decisions. Verifies postings of transactions to the general ledger system. Assists journal entries by making adjusts for accuracy and sufficiency of funds. Drives to various meetings, workshops, and hearings conducted by granting agencies as required.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, including speaking to the media and public. Requires the ability to operate an automobile. Requires the ability to operate general office equipment such as a personal computer, telephone, and wireless technology.

 

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Majority of work is performed in an office environment. Some travel to off-site meetings is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Business or Public Administration, Finance or a related field and seven (7) years of professional experience working with grants or accounting. Working experience in supplier minority purchasing activities preferred; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License as a condition of continued employment. Working experience with computer software programs including Microsoft Office preferred.

Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire. As defined by Tennessee House Bill 105, "first responder means paid, full-time law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel and dispatchers of law enforcement, fire and emergency medical service departments."
