ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works under the direction of the assigned Youth Services Director and Senior Program Manager to develop and maintain partnerships with Memphis schools. Oversees youth services initiatives, such as tutoring and mentoring for middle school students. Facilitates connections for onsite programming during the school year and summer leadership academies. Manages outreach activities, including public engagements to promote programs at community events. Coordinates staff orientation and training, aids with budget and policy implementation for the Memphis Ambassadors Program (MAP) and MPLOY programs. Supervises the Outreach Services Lead, Social Media Lead, and Social Media Team. Organizes program calendar.  Tracks and audits participant progression data and files, and prepares reports for City Council, stakeholders, and management. Maintains employee records, and processes payroll. Collaborates with other leadership in Youth Services to identify critical data to measure program success. Conducts training for staff and volunteers, research new program ideas, and gathers data on MAP graduates entering internships. Provides continuous improvement in service delivery to City Youth. Fosters community relations, and effective youth programming. 


OTHER FUNCTIONS:1. Performs additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned.


TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires the ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Requires the ability to operate general office equipment such as a computer, telephone, and fax machine. Requires the ability to operate an automobile.


TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in an office environment Requires some travel to various sites throughout the city. May be required to work evenings and weekends to attend conferences, youth forums, school events, and trainings. Requires travel to various locations and events across the city.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration, Accounting, Education, Social Work, Communications, or a related field and six (6) years of professional experience in data tracking, and/or financial analyzing; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Working experience in a youth-related environment preferred. Requires working experience with job training and a knowledge of youth development and training. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license as a condition of continued employment. Master’s degree strongly preferred.

The City Charter requires that City Employees must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from date of Employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire. The City Charter requires that City Employees, with the EXECEPTION of “first responders”, must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from their date of Employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire. As defined by Tennessee House Bill 105, "first responder means paid, full-time law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel and dispatchers of law enforcement, fire and emergency medical service departments."
