Zone Construction Inspector
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires the use of basic measuring tools such as levels and measuring tapes. Requires the ability to operate an automobile. Requires the ability to traverse over uneven surfaces.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Majority of work is performed outdoors exposed to changing weather conditions. Work schedule varies depending on schedule of construction company. Requires travel throughout the City to inspect construction sites, including sewer lines along the Wolf River. May involve working on Saturdays. Involves contact with contractors and citizens.
High school graduate and three (3) years experience in civil construction work or construction inspections; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license as a condition of continued employment.
The City Charter requires that City Employees, with the exception of "first responders", must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from their date of employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire. As defined by Tennessee Senate Bill No. 29, "first responder" means paid, full-time law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel.
