ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works under the direction the Director of the Office of Business Diversity and Compliance (OBDC). Coordinates activities associated with OBDC's business services initiatives including the assessment of clients and development of programs. Assists division personnel with identifying qualified vendors for contracting opportunities. Maintains relationships with other public and private sector partners providing services and resources to clients. Coordinates and promotes City of Memphis funded small business, minority and women owned business support programs. Researches and disseminations data to the public/private sector organizations/individuals. Promotes services to small, minority and women owned business. Implements an intensive outreach effort to identify, obtain, and provide materials and data to clients on available resources. Collaborates with providers of outreach programs to create community awareness of the all business services programs, resources, and opportunities. Supports clients in proposal and bid development efforts. Assists with targeting and tracking of local government initiatives through City government as well as various other economic development initiatives. Attends meeting and conducts field visits as needed. Works with appropriate City personnel to prepare research and public response information as needed. Serves as a liaison with the Renaissance Business Center, Greater Memphis Chamber, EpiCenter, Mid-South Minority Business Council (MMBC) etc. as assigned.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to communicate clearly verbally both orally and in writing. Requires the ability to operate general office equipment such as a personal computer and telephone.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Majority of work is performed in an office. May occasionally travel independently to make on-site visits to attend meetings or conduct training sessions
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance or related field with five (5) years' experience in coordinating and researching economic, finance or business related program; or any combination of experience or training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Working experience using Microsoft Office application such as Word or Excel preferred.

As defined by Tennessee House Bill 105, "first responder means paid, full-time law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel and dispatchers of law enforcement, fire and emergency medical service departments."
