ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  Works under the general direction of the Compensation and Data IntegrityManager to monitor and analyze personnel data to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the City’s compensation programs. Assists with administering compensation policies and conducting salary analysis. Ensures personnel data is in compliance with organizational standards. Supports compensation projects, generates data reports, and ensures data management practices is adhered. Performs data entry for new hires, promotions, transfers, salary changes, terminations, and other personnel actions in a timely manner. Coordinates with other departments to ensure consistency and accuracy of data across systems. Supports the development, and implementation of compensation programs, including salary structures and incentive plans. Assists with compensation benchmarking and market salary surveys to ensure competitive offerings. Analyzes compensation data to maintain equity, alignment, and compliance with internal policies and external regulations. Prepares salary recommendations, including entry-level salaries, promotions, and internal equity adjustments. Ensures the accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of data within Human Resources (HR) systems. Updates and maintains personnel data in the HR Information System (HRIS). Generates reports and statistical analysis as needed. Ensures compliance with record-keeping and reporting requirements, including documentation of personnel transactions. Identifies and recommends process improvements to enhance departmental practices. Ensure compliance with all relevant labor laws and regulations related to compensation and data privacy.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

1.     Performs additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Requires the ability to operate general office equipment such as computer and telephone.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:  Work is performed in an office environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education or a related field and (3) three years of professional experience performing human services, social work, or counseling functions; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Working experience with employee training and development strongly preferred. 


The City Charter requires that City Employees, with the exception of "first responders", must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from their date of employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire. As defined by Tennessee Senate Bill No. 29, "first responder" means paid, full-time law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel.
