OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Serves as back up to Buyer and Contract Analysts.
- Performs additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with management, staff, vendors and the general public. Requires the ability to operate basic office equipment such as a computer, telephone, calculator, copy machine, fax machine, etc. Must be able to lift and carry objects such as boxes weighing up to 20 pounds. Requires the ability to traverse various work sites such as auction lots.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in an office environment. Occasional travel to various locations throughout the City for business services activities. May be exposed to fumes, odors, noise and various climate conditions.
Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of experience in the purchasing environment including registering and maintaining a data base of approved suppliers, processing requisitions, and expediting bids and contracts; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Working experience in Microsoft systems such as Excel, Word and Power Point preferred.
The City Charter requires that City Employees must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from date of Employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire.
