Teen Learning Lab Super
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Works under the general supervision of assigned manager to help coordinate functions of CLOUD901 Teen Learning Lab. Develops engaging teen learning curriculum, lesson plans, learning objectives, and success measures for teen youth. Supervises and provides support to ensure Memphis Public Libraries' guidelines, goals, and objectives are met. Recommends and supervises educational tactics and programs to enable proper teen learning. Evaluates overall work performance of the team and ongoing programming across the library system to identify areas of improvement and development. Collaborates with community volunteers to provide programs to teens. Establishes norms, expectations, and procedures for teens utilizing the Learning Lab and other facilities in CLOUD901. Provides recommendations for facility and equipment designs, purchases, and development. Assists with fundraising, budgeting, and requesting funds from foundations and various organizations. Provides work direction, assignment of duties, training, and evaluation of work performance of assigned staff. Assists manager with directing outreach services and programming initiatives. Oversees staff schedules and daily operation of department. Supervises personnel in performing library services such as assisting customers with learning lab equipment and identifying books in a collection, etc. Monitors physical condition of facilities and equipment for damages, security, and safety standards and submits reports of impairment and safety, if necessary.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Requires the ability to operate general office equipment such as a personal computer and telephone. Requires the ability to lift office supplies, publications, etc. weighing up to 15lbs. Requires the ability to move tables, chairs, and other furniture weighing up to 40lbs.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in an office. Requires contact with staff and the public. Must be able to work flexible hours as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Library Science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited library school and four (4) years of related professional library experience with two (2) of the four (4) in a supervisory capacity; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Master’s degree strongly preferred.
The City Charter requires that City Employees, with the exception of "first responders", must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from their date of employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire. As defined by Tennessee Senate Bill No. 29, "first responder" means paid, full-time law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel.
